CHROME POWDER [krohm pou-der]
What it is: A bright mica powder that provides a reflective coating when rubbed into a gel.
How to use it: To create mirrored chrome, unicorn or mermaid effect nails.
How to apply it: To achieve the most reflective look, apply powder with an eye shadow sponge, brush or silicone nail tool to burnish it into a cured no-cleanse top coat. Burnished into the inhibition layer of gel polish will provide an opalecent appearance.
How to remove it: Remove with acetone or product remover.
How to store it: Stored in small containers in a cool, dry place.

What it is: AKA caviar beads. Tiny metallic beads used to embellish 3D nail art.
How to use it: To embellish any 3D or inlaid nail design.
How to apply it: Adhered to the design with top coat, gel or adhesive.
How to remove it: The adhesive is softened with acetone to remove the embellishment.
How to store it: Usually housed in a small container where they can be easily picked up one at time.

BUFFER
BUFFER [buhf-er]
What it is: A disposable block or padded file that can have a grit of 100-12,000. The higher the number the smoother the abrasive on the buffer.
How to use it: Use a 100/180-grit buffer to prepare the surface of the nail to help in the adhesion of enhancement products. Use any grit 100 or higher to refine, smooth or shine the surface of a nail or nail enhancement.
Since buffers cannot be disinfected, dispose of or gift to the client after the service.
How to store it: Store new buffers in a dry drawer or cabinet.

MONOMER [mon-uh-mer]
What it is: A one unit molecule that can react to form a polymer chain. In the context of the nail industry, monomer is the liquid used in a liquid and powder acrylic nail enhancement system.
How to use it: Used with polymer powder to create a bead of product to overlay or sculpt a nail enhancement.
How to apply it: Pour monomer into a dappen dish. Dip an acrylic brush into the liquid, allowing the monomer to absorb into the hair, before placing into the powder to pick up a bead of product.
How to store it: Store with lid tightly closed to avoid evaporation, in a cool dry place away from heat and light.
