ESSENTIAL OILS [uh-sen-shuhl-oyl]

What it is: Oils extracted using various forms of distillation or cold pressing from the seeds, petals, bark, roots, leaves, wood, and/or resin of plants. Each plant’s essence has its own unique characteristic.
How to use it: Used topically (in a carrier oil) in massage or inhaled (diffused vapour), as a remedy for some health problems, cleaning and hygiene. They are considered under the umbrella of complementary medicine and work to promote and improve mental, emotional and physical wellbeing.
How to store it: Place in a cool, dry, dark place. Keep away from direct sunlight. Place in dark glass containers, most commonly found in blue and brown glass jars with tightly fitted lid.

CAMPHOR

CAMPHOR [kam-fer]

What it is: An active ingredient distilled from the bark of the camphor tree. It’s use in nail products has been controversial.
How to use it: Known to be active against fungi that can cause nail infections. Synthetic versions have been used in nail polish to help with shine, adhesion and elasticity.
