IMPLEMENTS [im-pluh-ments]

What it is: Specialist tools/utensils used to perform nail services. Implements can be multi or single-use and manufactured for purpose.
How to use it: Each implement has a specific job during the nail service; these include metal nail clippers, metal or glass nail files, tip cutters (for cutting artificial nail tips), nail nippers for nipping away hangnails, efile bits, stork scissors for cutting fiberglass mesh, cuticle pusher for gently pushing back the proximal nail fold.
How to disinfect: After each client, sanitize implements by washing in hot soapy water and scrubbing with a nylon brush. Dry with a clean towel. Next submerge in disinfectant for at least 10 minutes. Then dry and store. If the tools have come into contact with any bodily fluids, then sterilize them in an appropriate sterilizer.
Nail files and buffers (emery boards) require brushing off the debris, washing in soapy water and spraying with appropriate disinfectant. Ideally you will have a set that is allocated to each client, so there is no cross contamination.
How to store: Place in a clean, dry place (a drawer lined with clean paper towels) away from any unclean tools.
