GlossaryLive celebrates the 2024 Met Gala ball's display of iconic fashion throughout history. This regal nail design by Aigul Fritzke was inspired by Christian Diors ``Junon`` ball gown circa 1949. The reflective, light blue irridecent sequins on the petal like layers of the skirt fade into a rich navy outline that commands the eye. The delicate eighteenth-century Dior innovation inspires an understated nail look with bold accents.

GlossaryLive celebrates the 2024 Met Gala ball's display of iconic fashion throughout history. In this episode, Alisha Rimando creates a nail design inspired by Alexander McQueen's infamous clam dress from his spring/summer 2001 collection. In McQueen's words, “My friend George and I were walking on the beach in Norfolk, and there were thousands of `{`razor-clam`}` shells. They were so beautiful, I thought I had to do something with them. So, we decided to make `{`a dress`}` out of them. . . . The shells had outlived their usefulness on the beach, so we put them to another use on a dress. Then Erin `{`O’Conner`}` came out and trashed the dress, so their usefulness was over once again. Kind of like fashion, really.”

Enter Caleb Williams, the football phenom who’s not only dominating on the field but also making waves with his unexpected style statement: nail art.

Drawing inspiration from the ancient warriors who used ground minerals to strike fear into the hearts of their enemies, Williams has found his own unique way to demoralize opponents. In an interview with USC legend Matt Leinart on CBS, Williams revealed that his mom’s career as a nail technician has been a lifelong influence. “It’s just kind of always been around me. Nobody else does it. I just kinda like to do new things,” he shared.

Kirsty Meakin is one of the most renowned nail artists in the world today. With over 100 nail accolades, including Social Media Star of the Year 2021, Nail Artist of the Year 2012 and UK Nail Professional of the Year 2010, Kirsty has also been nominated for Nail Artist of the Year at the American Influencer Awards 2019.

Kirsty has been honing her nail skills for over 20 years after uncovering her creative powers at a Youth Training Scheme. The advancement of nail products has allowed Kirsty to explore her ability and passion for nail art and she is vastly recognised for her freehand and 3D nail art skills.

Kirsty’s innovative creations have been exhibited at the V & A museum art gallery in London after Kirsty was commissioned to do a nail art piece for the “power of making” exhibition. Kirsty is passionate about educating nail technicians and provides a wide range of courses for qualified technicians to push their skills further to be the best they can be. Kirsty has a busy and vibrant Youtube channel, which allows her to teach and inspire worldwide with no constraints. She has simultaneously expanded the Kirsty Meakin Brand to include a clothing line, gel polish system, and a host of professional accessories and products.
